These are my (badly photographed) pictures of my first horse cushion designs. I am really pleased with them and am currently sewing peals on to the designs.

Burning The Clocks 2010
Burning the Clocks is an antidote to the excesses of the commercial Christmas. People gather to make paper and willow lanterns to carry through their city and burn on the beach as a token for the end of the year. No lantern is better for its purpose than any other, all are unique to the maker and precious, but all are given up to be burnt to greet the lengthening days.
Burning the Clocks combines a family solstice parade with a high quality fire show and fireworks for the whole city. The lantern makers invest their lanterns with their wishes, hopes, and fears and then pass them into the fire.
The parade will leave at 6.30pm. We expect the front of the parade to arrive at Madeira Drive at 7.15pm and the event to finish at 8pm. Please note all times are approximate.
The parade route will be: North Street, Ship Street, Bartholomews, East Street and Madeira Drive. For the best viewing position, go straight to Madeira Drive and watch the parade arrive. Please do not wait in New Road to watch the parade as this is our assembly zone for 1000 participants and there is no space for audience!

The illuminated trail
Take a stroll along the fabulous Illuminated Trail. The trail takes around 45 minutes and can get a little muddy, so make sure you wear your wellies!

Mariko Jesse
I really enjoy looking through Jesse's website, the website layout is as enjoyable as her work and visually welcoming, she explains how she responses to a project and how she achieves her outcome. Jesse as shows a range of all different techniques and has worked for some great clients and has been commissioned for some very interesting projects. I first recognised her work for 'River Cottage'

Group Project
We were set in a group, mixing all pathways and given a brief with the word "Kinetic", we were free to respond to this how we liked.I’ve really enjoyed the project and am really pleased with the outcome.
We made a battery-controlled mechanism that spins Thaumatropes with a touch of a button, we based this on a Victorian fair/circus and themed it "Trick Or Treat". We mixed both "naughty" and "nice" imagery and you should use the device to find out which it was. We had a few technical set backs but produced what we wanted to a high quality by the deadline and worked as a team well.
After completing the spinning device we create a display box to view it in, based on Victorian Punch and Judy. We them decarated it and a box to fit the discs to match.
The final piece, box with discs and posters. |
